About Me

Tristy Taylor is a Portland, Oregon-based transformation teacher, dream worker, shadow worker, ordained interfaith minister and dream artist. Raised by world-renowned dream worker Jeremy Taylor and dream artist Kathryn Taylor, she has been working with her dreams from the very beginning. She has been leading dream groups since she was 15-years old, and over the last three decades, she has grown her own dream work offerings to include art making and ritual as guided by the dream world, as well as opening the rich secrets of Shadow work and nightmare imagery. She has a Master of Arts in Transformative Arts with a Dream Studies certificate from the Graduate School for Holistic Studies at John F. Kennedy University, and she currently teaches a variety of classes for Morbid Anatomy Academy and the Chaplaincy Institute for Interfaith Ministries. She also sees clients one-on-one and facilitates online dream workshops every season.

18 years ago today we said YES in a Masonic hall in Marin. 10 years later he died. I miss miss miss you, Charlie Bear, and my Heart is expanding and opening to new chapters. Holding the never ending love we shared with showing up to possible new love. It’s so chaotic and strange and weird and beautiful and I don’t know. I’m grateful. I love you.

Taking advantage of the last cool evening we will have for awhile(!) and getting in some gardening. I was deep in my thoughts, mostly grinding on how I don’t give enough time and attention to the growing things on this land I steward and generally being hard on myself when my neighbor called out my name and said, “Tristy, your garden is just magical.” It was such a 180 from what I was currently telling myself, it literally took my breath away. I shared my gratitude with her for sharing such a kind reflection with me, exactly when I needed to hear it. I welcome all of us to follow our instincts of kindness and connection. Don’t worry if it makes the other person embarrassed or whatever story our brains might be making up in the moment. Let’s listen to our big, beautiful hearts instead. I’m also sharing this lilac with you, that is blooming for the first time since I planted it. It was the first plant I planted when I moved here and for two years it barely grew and never flowered. But here she is, vibing and flourishing, and friends, I deeply relate to this metaphor. I planted the seeds for my new life two years ago and there were many moments where I thought nothing was growing, despite my best efforts. I was so cruel with myself. So much shame and judgment and stories of “failure.” But that’s my capitalist brainwashing and control freak-itude talking. My heart always knew things were growing and that soon I could sit like my favorite bull Ferdinand and smell the intoxicating lilacs of my planted, nourishes dreams. Thank you. I love you.

I’m fine-tuning my notes for my upcoming class on Lucid Dreaming with @morbidanatomy beginning THIS SATURDAY! I was giggling at how my brain works when I wrote that “The Tibetan Book of the Dead” is essentially “The Handbook for the Recently Deceased,” but with way better writing/guidance (see second image from one of my favorite movies: “Beetlejuice.”😉) It’s a nice feeling when your own thought process makes you giggle. I can’t stop crying today. Apparently a lot is going on with Pluto and other Star stuff. I’m also peri menopausal, so my hormones are battering my heart around. In two weeks it will be my 18th wedding anniversary, but can I still call it that? Am I still married to his spirit? All I could think to do this evening was take advantage of the late light and walk walk walk and cry cry cry. I knew I wanted to walk under my favorite kissing trees that create a tunnel of pink flowers this time of year. I breathed in all the luscious greenness of everything. I pet some cats. When I first met my Heart Teacher he said “this life might just be about feeling your grief.” I feel like a watery sack of tears rumbling around on two tree trunk legs, telling the crows my grief story and smelling all the blooming flowers. I don’t know anything. Thank you. I love you.

April 2023 Dream Titles. Not as much recall this month. That often happens when I am doing a lot in waking life, which was definitely true in April. I’m also experimenting recording my dreams in more of a “mind map” style, since they really aren’t ever linear anyway. I have been dreaming a lot about Japanese men (always muscular, young and in threes). I’ve also been dreaming about Japanese homes, restaurants, art, and “death ceremonies.” @weeberweebs makes an appearance dressed as a “pioneer woman” but her bonnet is a giant popover! The furry Dachshund spoke perfect English and was very kind and helpful. He told me he was “having relationship problems” and once we found my car, we sat and talked about it for awhile and I gave him some good advice! The drawing is a representation of the tiny house I sculpted out of Fimo and is “the perfect gift” I crafted that he did not want. 🏠

To say that Portland is a gluten-free wonderland is an understatement. Just got a gluten-free, vegan Choco Taco at @katesicecream and WOW WOW WOW. Beyond delicious. It’s 82 degrees, I just ha a super strong workout and this treat is perfection. This is the last weekend to get one so run on down there! 🍦 🌮 🩵

In preparation for my brand new “Craft the Fairy Tale of Your Life” class, which BEGINS TOMORROW, I have been going through the process myself, making tweaks and adjustments as I go. In our first class, we will make a journey to meet with our “Little Selves.” Little Tristy had a lot to say, but one of the things she got a real kick out of, was hearing about the life I have crafted for us. I highly recommend taking an internal trip to talk to your Little Self! It’s one of my favorite holidays of the year - when the Tulip Magnolia tree nextdoor puts on her full Spring Drag! She is tall and mighty and beautiful. People literally stop their cars in the middle of the street and stand in awe of her. She’s my favorite Portland Deity and I’m blessed to live nextdoor to her. 🩷

How is it April already? I love sharing my Dream Titles of the month and the story they tell me. Two titles didn’t make it in to the photo. They are:

Every Equinox, Solstice and Cross-Quarter day, I like to create new altars around the house, including the one that sits with me on Zoom. It’s always extra special when clients and students notice the change and ask about the new objects - or even recognize them, like my Dream Raptors! I’ve also got a sculpted Kali-Ma my father made in the 70’s, to honor a recent opening I had in my Open Heart Circle. And of course, the glorious tulip magnolia branches that always bring Spring to my little neighborhood. Happy New Beginnings, friends. I love you. 🦚🌸🦅

Happy Spring Equinox! I made a new altar today and had a great time putting precious treasures in the bird’s nest, including a little looking glass for maximum admiration. I trimmed some tulip magnolia branches and put them on the altar too. Soon the mantle will be exploding with pink flowers! Happy Return of the Light, during the Darkest Moon. Keeping it all in balance. I love you.

Happy Spring Equinox! This morning I worked on trimming my fig trees in the cold, blustery wind. I loved feeling the cold bite on my nose as I dragged branches around the yard. I loved wielding my beloved chainsaw to make all those unruly branches into manageable logs and twigs. At one point, with the help of the wind, my neighbor’s Weeping Willow leaned down over the fence and caressed my face and it felt like a blessing from Nature herself. Happy balance of Light and Dark. Happy Return of the Light on the darkest Moon. I love you.

I did a very adult thing and bought a new washer and dryer. When I bought this house, it came with an an ancient washer & dryer and I used their last bit of life in these last 2 years!

We just completed our last session of my Dreaming in 2023 Dream Circle. What an incredible group of Dreamers! I am always amazed by the connections, synchronicities and powerful Dreamwork that happens in these circles.

Came home to the sweetest gift from @the_true_vailias - the hedgehog love continues! That card is hand-painted!!! So sweet. Happy almost Spring, friends. 🦔🍄🌼

Another journal completed. Hedgehogs have really been showing up a lot these past few months! Thoughts and collages and scribbles and drawings and dreams. No matter what, we keep going on into the unknown. I love you.

Here’s the full tally of my February Dream Titles! I like the story it tells. The full title of the “My Pet Hedgehog” dream is actually, “I Dress My Pet Hedgehog Like a Clown,” and I just had to draw them. In the Dream I am nervous that all the patrons of the shop I am in will trample my little Clown Hog, but I believe we get through it unscathed. I’m a firm believer in not trying to illustrate our dreams (because truly, that’s impossible). Instead, try being INSPIRED by your dream imagery and see what happens.
